Ask a: model

I’ve been wanting to start a small series of interviews on my blog to introduce the world to a variety of really lovely and inspiring people. I’m kicking them of with model and illustrator Jiahe who modelled for my first North Polar Bear lookbook and we’ve stayed in touch via Instagram. Since meeting she’s been signed to Anti Agency and worked with brands such as Goodhood and Contributor Magazine. Get to know her below…

Anti- Agency

Death row dinner:
Going to start off the meal with a bowl of Phó and a shit ton of chillies, then gobble down some fried chicken and wash it all down with some full fat coke.

Favourite place:
Paris after dark/ My grandma’s house in China

What’s in your handbag right now:
small sketchbook, keys, my (empty empty) wallet, usually a book for the long train journeys (currently reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), headphones, peach scented hand cream and a small bottle of fragrance (Don’t want to smell funky)

Best beauty tips/ advice:
If you have Asian eyelashes like me then your waterproof mascara and eyelash curler will be your best mates, took me years to realise that normal mascara don’t work on my eyelashes… :( Also The Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is a gift from god- does wonders on my break outs, dry skin and lips.

What’s your absolute favourite thing in your wardrobe:

Favourite holiday spot:
I went to Paris last summer and ever since then, all I’m trying to do is go back. But I also love places with a lot of nature for me to explore.

Who’s on your playlist:
The Mission, Modest mouse, The Buzzcocks, Violent Femmes, Sticky Fingers, Talking Heads, Drake, Yung Lean and obviously everyone loves a bit of Sean Paul. If you don’t, you’re wrong.

Best thing about being a model:
My favourite thing about modelling is getting to meet lovely, like-minded people. It is also pretty exciting to take part in a creative project and knowing you helped to make it happen.

Worst thing about being a model:
Honestly, It can get pretty fucking depressing spending a huge chunk of your day alone on trains and tubes, especially if you’re having a bad day. :(

Are there any untrue model stereotypes:
That models are bland, extremely vain, stuck-up bitches who starve themselves, I mean I’ve met some who are that, but all of us..

Goals for 2017:
Be a more mentally-stable, responsible and driven version of my 2016 self.

Valentines day plans:
There is a strong chance of me getting really, really, really drunk on Sainsbury’s own vodka.

Who inspires you:
Anyone who has a positive outlook on life.

Favourite jewellery brand + go-to pieces:
Quite like some of the stuff from NuNu jewellery at the moment, they have a smiley face necklace that I really want.. usually I tend to go with something simple and small, but I do like to whip out my pink heart shaped hoops for a party :)

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given:
My mum has always told me that ‘Life goes on so don’t dwell on things, don’t be arrogant, be kind, be honest and always work hard.’
